Five PM, Sea-Tac Airport

Lee Hallison

My uncle the priest staggers slightly, exiting the cramped air of the plane thinks maybe he peed and his head hurts and the exit ramp is too long and everything’s fuzzy he sways but holds the rail and moves with the crowd looks and looks for the sign for baggage gets on the escalator and feels better when all of a sudden he loses his balance falls backward into reaching arms and knows his god greets oh greets his god and I look but don’t see him at baggage claim and I wait and wait oh I wait for him.
